75. Anagama Porcelain Teadram
Anagama Porcelain Teadram with textural hakeme brushwork
5.5cm x 5.5cm
In pottery - you are your kiln.
A vessel's form and function will be dictated by what kind of kiln they are fired in. Each kiln will produce different results.
This collection was fired for over 6 days, through night and day, in an Anagama Kiln. It takes 6 people in continuous 4-hour shifts, constantly stoking the kiln with wood to produce the pieces in front of you.
The magic of an Anagama kiln is that the pots in this firing need no glaze. The ash from the wood being fired, travels with the flame and lands on the pots. Ash, when hot enough for long enough, turns to glass/glaze. The results of the firing are entirely unpredictable and unknown. Each tree has a unique combination of minerals, depending on its species and where it has grown - meaning each glaze and each pot are also one of a kind.
Professional Image is from the original exhibition and may be of a similar form but not the exact piece for sale - Please look at the accompanying images for precise piece for sale.
All pieces are handmade so sizing may vary slightly.
